I was thinking the other day about a forgotten class within our society. The Bourgeois. The Bourgeois were self-made upper middle-class folk who worked hard, built businesses, or studied well to have good jobs. The Bourgeois class died après the Victorian Era with the spark of the Great Depression. Now, I find it to be the perfect time to revive the class of elegance. Of hard work. Of passion to present oneself with devotion to perfection. Fashion for the Rest of Us. Introducing my newest brand concept, La Bourgeoisie.
To create an “Old” (new) Money brand that can embody the spirit of Bélanger, without the eccentricity, peculiar Scottish-French mishmash that is quite niche, and the iconic “x” cross-stitch work throughout the garments, was the goal; a dialled-down, timeless, and elegant brand, with a maximalist logo to balance out the ethos. All corresponds with the golden triangle within the logo. The logo is of a man and woman taking a stroll on a sunny afternoon together in 1890s Paris.
I want to bring back that sort of dedication to dress with the modern era, with fashion designs to come and to be posted under this brand. This is a brand that would compete with the likes of Polo Ralph Lauren, specifically. I want to sell a lifestyle, not the product.
